How we work
A free 15-minute call, an operations review, then a project or a retainer. The scope is written down before any work starts.
Volka is a Brisbane-based consultancy that works with owner-run businesses anywhere in Australia and beyond. Every engagement follows the same four steps, so you know what happens next at each point.

- First call
- Free, 15 minutes
The four steps
- Talk. A free 15-minute call. You describe what is stuck. Volka asks questions and says whether it can help. If it is not the right fit, Volka says that too.
- Scope. Volka runs an operations review of the area you care about. It looks at how work runs now, talks to the people involved and writes up what it found. You receive a written scope for the next stage before it begins.
- Do. The work happens alongside you and your team, as a defined project or as ongoing support. You see progress in regular written updates.
- Hand over. Volka leaves you with documents your team can use without Volka in the room, and a short list of what to do next. Support can continue if you want it.
The operations review
The operations review is the first step. It is the same idea across all four services, pointed at the area you ask about.
Volka looks at how the business actually runs: the workflows people follow, the written procedures (or the lack of them), the processes that move work from one person to the next, and whether automation is in use or missing. The owner receives a written report that sets out what Volka found and what to fix first.

How we agree the work
- The scope is in writing before work starts.
- After the operations review, work is a defined project or a monthly retainer. You choose.
- Retainers have no minimum term. Either side can end one with 30 days notice.
- A project can be stopped at any time. You pay for the work done up to that point.
- Anything outside the written scope is quoted separately and agreed before it starts.
- The price is set out in the written scope, before you commit to anything.
What you do
Give Volka access to the people and documents it needs, answer questions promptly and make the decisions that are yours to make. Most of the benefit comes from the owner being available early on.
What Volka does not do
Volka does not give legal, tax or financial advice. It does not promise results such as growth or compliance. It does say what it will do, in writing, and then does it.
Questions
- Is the first call free?
Yes. The first call is free and takes 15 minutes.
- Do I have to sign up for a retainer?
No. After the first step you can take a one-off project, a monthly retainer, or stop. Retainers have no minimum term.
- What happens if the work does not suit us?
Raise it early. The scope is written down, so both sides can see what was agreed and adjust it. A retainer ends with 30 days notice. A project can be stopped at any time, and you pay for the work done up to that point.
